What is AEIS?

The AEIS is a centralised admissions exercise conducted by Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE) for international students who wish to join the mainstream school system.

Students will sit for English literacy, numeracy, and reasoning skills tests. Based on their performance and available vacancies, successful candidates will be placed in a suitable school.

AEIS is held once a year, typically in September or October, for admissions into the following academic year (starting January).

 

Who Should Apply?

International students who:

  • Are not Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
  • Do not have a confirmed place in a mainstream Singapore school.

  • Wish to seek admission into Primary 2–5 or Secondary 1–3 levels in 2027.

AEIS Test Format

The AEIS tests assess English language and Mathematics skills.

 

Primary Level Tests

  • English Test: Focuses on comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary.
  • Mathematics Test: Covers topics like number sense, measurement, geometry, and problem-solving.

 

Secondary Level Tests

  • English Test: Assesses reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary usage, and writing.
  • Mathematics Test: Focuses on numerical calculations, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.

Tests are written in English.

Applying for AEIS 2026 is simple:

  1. Submit Application: Complete the online application form once registration opens.
  2. Pay the Application Fee: The application fee must be paid online. It is non-refundable.
  3. Receive Confirmation: After a successful application, you will receive an email with test details.
  4. Sit for the AEIS Test: Attend the test on the assigned date.
  5. Receive Test Results: Results will be sent via email email.
  6. School Placement: Successful candidates will be offered a place in a suitable school with available vacancies.
